About Me

winning the battle against intruding pests

I live in the country and I love it. I love the seclusion, the peace and the wildlife that fills my yard through the changing seasons. What I don't like are the pests that try to make themselves at home inside my home. I have gone through many battles over the years with the different insects and rodents that intrude and have been able to win most battles fairly easily. I built this blog with the hopes of helping others who suffer from the same determined pests that I have find a way to get them out of their homes for good.

How To Get Rid Of Scorpions And Keep Them Away

There are few things more frightening than the thought of scorpions living and breeding inside of your home. It's troubling that the creatures hide during the day and then come out at night when they can crawl on you while you sleep or scuttle past you when you walk to the bathroom at night. Even worse, scorpions can be aggressive if they think you mean them harm. Scorpion stings are painful and they can cause a dangerous reaction in you or your pets. You want to get scorpions out of your house fast. Here are some tips for removing and controlling these dangerous pests.

Clear Out Clutter

You'll want to remove as many hiding places as you can so the pests have to go elsewhere to feel safe. Clear out clutter inside your home and outside as well. Scorpions like to hide from the sun during the day. They'll burrow under piles of leaves, rocks, and wood. They are attracted to heavy foliage and weeds. Keep the area near your home free from decaying leaves, weeds, and other places for scorpions to hide.

Seal Entry Points

Having scorpions in your yard is bad but not as bad as having them in your home. Keep them out of your house by sealing up entry points. You may need to hire a pest control expert to do this for you since an expert knows what to look for and knows where scorpions are likely to be hiding and trying to get inside your home.

Apply Pest Control Products

Having regular pest control treatments is very important in the control of scorpions. Scorpions eat other insects so if your home has roaches, ants, or other bugs inside, the scorpions will come in to take advantage of the free meal. Your pest control company will probably treat your home on the inside and outside as well. Perimeter spraying and the application of granules helps control scorpions and their food source too.

Hand Remove The Scorpions

One way to get rid of scorpions inside your home is to remove them by hand. You probably don't want to do this yourself since it can be dangerous. A pest control company may offer this service if you have an infestation in your home you need to get rid of fast. The work usually has to be done at night since that's when scorpions are active. The pests are found easily using scorpion lights. A scorpion light is a UV light that causes scorpions to glow in the dark. Other bugs such as spiders can light up too. Shining one of these UV lights at night gives you a good idea of the bugs roaming around your home and it also makes it easy to detect scorpions so they can be caught and physically removed.
